ok. i'm looking for a good way to build up my 350 i'm gonna be taking it out this winter. and be rebuilding it. but what are some good parts i want more of a high end motor. i have a t-5 and will have a gm 12 bolt with 4.53 gears. after i'm done i want it to be a good fun car. not a daily driver but a weekend/strip driver. any one have a good setup i could use

How much do you have to spend?

(99% of me says you've got a tad bit to learn before you stab at a car that needs 4.53's out back)

4.10 or 4.11 is about as much as I would go with if the car is a weekend warrior. My future engine will use a 4.10ish rear gear.

Any engine that needs a 4.53 rear will chew through a factory T-5 in a day. Similarly, any engine that requires a 4.53, I would pair up with a well built auto trans and a good race converter.

Go with 4.10s like Stekman said, also, you're gunna have to think about this a little bit more man.

You'll need to beef up your tranny a whole lot (that'll take a good portion of your funds probably)

You'll need better suspension, no point in beefing up the engine if you cant put the power to the ground... that is unless your primary use for the car is burnouts, in which case you should just invest in line-lock and be done with it.

The moser 12 bolt, or ford 9 inch is a great decision... but will you be getting posi or LSD as well?

So basically think about your tranny (which will have to be beefed or upgraded), your suspension, and posi or LSD.

If we could get a price range then we can help you out more!! I hope you're as excited as I am about your new modfest

well allrighty then...

do you want to go carb'd or FI?

looking to stroke it to 383?

an entirely new valvetrain would never hurt you, get something to scream...

I'm guessing that it already has proper exhaust for the application.

what power band are you looking, this might help you find the right heads, cam, etc.

you'll probably want to upgrade the fuel system a bit.

so much to think about... what powerband do you want, this will just be a weekend warrior / drag strip champ i'm guessing, so it doesnt need to be too streetable?

i'll also assume that you'll have the proper braking power already lined up for this car?

If you want to stay carb'd, the Q-Jet that your car has already is definetly the way to keep it, you could probably gain a couple HP with a better intake manifold.

yup. well the plan is to keep it a q-jet. i'm getting a stage 3 build up form summit. new rpm gap intake. i forgot what brakes i was gonna put on thier. i have them on my whish list on summit. i'm gonna do a 12 gallon fuel cell. in line mounted fuel pump. with inline fuel pressure reg. i'm looking for more of a 2-6 rpm range power band. i like TQ but i like feeling of getting pulled back into the seat at high rpm. the 383 stoker i was looking at i know it's a better way to amke good power so i'll proablly go with that. and as for head and cam i was hoping some of this info will help find an answer thanks. sorry i didn't say it first
