EGRRRRRRRR!
EGRRRRRRRR!
The egr valve is supposed to be closed at idle and w.o.t. and opened between the two exremes, right? Mine stays closed all the time whether in park, nuetral or in gear. Every once in a while I get a code 32. But my main reason for doing a battery of tests on the egr and it's components is to see if it was inoperative and contributing to the knock I get sometimes. The valve opens with a hand held vacuum so I know the diaphragm is good. There is 14 inHg. vacuum at the throttle body port. Neither hose leaks. The solenoid opens with voltage applied to the terminals. A test light lights up when hooked up to the solenoid harness. Why doesn't the valve ever open when it is supposed to? Could it be that it's burning so clean that there's no need for it? Thanks.
