L98 heads

Hello fellow F-bodyers, I'm putting a L98 motor in my 68 SS Camaro, I want to build a 383 since my 350 has a spun rod, does anybody know how good the stock heads flow, I ask this because I have a set of 492 angle plug castings that I could use,I know these flow real good, anybody have any info on this? thanks Steve

Red,

Welcome aboard! You'll likely find plenty of opinions on this, but I can say that the L98 heads were not the best-flowing SBC heads as delivered from the factory. Like any head, they can be improved with some judicious machining, but if you already have a set of better heads, you might as well use them. The stock L98 heads are actually pretty disappointing compared to many other SBC stock heads, but have potential.

I'm not sure of flow specs on the "492" heads, so you're on your own until someone can deliver some numbers.
