How do I get the Code?

This isn't for my camaro. My mother has a 95 mazda B2300 with a 2.0 4 clyinder motor in it. The check engine light came on a couple of days ago and I was wondering if there is a way to read the code without putting it up on a machine. I know with my camaro I can just short a couple of pins on ALDL. Can you do something similar with the 95?

Thanks
Bill
