Engine: 2.8...... 3.8t coming soon or should I do a ls6 almost the same cost hmmm.....
Transmission: 3spd soon to be either a 700 or t56....
Noise from suspension

I have a 85 berlinetta ever since i got it when i go over speed bumps or when i et on it and the rear sinks it makes a thump cant figure out what it is we replaced the shocks in the rear but it still does it nothing is hitting the ground has anyone had this problem o0r does any one know what it is help please just dropedd in a 350 .30 over and it does it all the time now drivnig me crazy!! please help

Any idea where the thump is actually coming from? My first guess would be a broken transmission mount.

Axle/Gears: ones with teeth
tourqe arm bolt hitting floor look for the clean spot under the car. it is usually in the tunnell where it mounts to the trans.

just a guess sounds like a good place to look since it one thud.

i'd bet its the tourqe arm mount, sounds like the same thing that was happening to me when the mount let go. rubber only last for so long...

no thats not it its farther back where the noise is coming fromwhen we replaced the shocks it got better but didnt go away. i know its not the tourque arm or tranny mount and i looked just to make sure because i dont know where to go with this. but if i were to pin point the location it would be somewhere in the passenger rear any suggestions greatly appreciated and it not the exaust either im lost and i dont like the sound thanks again

Check all the bushings in the suspension arms back there. Check for loose bolts, cracked mounts.

I had my upper shock mounts punch through the floor pan. I was going to suggest that, except you said you already replaced the shocks.
