What year, model, make of car, and wat engine do you have? My solenoid on my LG4 "appears" to have three ports, but the one by itself on the back is a vent. The electrical connector should only fit one way, if it doesn't snap right in it may not be the right one.

2Turbo,
One of the ports is an atmospheric vent, to allow the EGR valve to return to the closed position and vent the vacuum when the solenoid shuts off. The original installation should have had a small cube of foam as a "filter" on this third (vent) port.
