Head Bolt Question

I'm looking into getting some Trick Flow heads shortly and have a question. Is it possible to use the stock bolts with the ARP washers under the head of the bolt to protect the head? Can anyone think of a problem that might come of this? I know new ARP bolts are only 50.00 but dropping 1200.00 on heads hurts enough. Thanks.

dont re-use head bolts, just drop the 120 on a set of studs instead of bolts and be happy knowing you did it right

I would go bolts. 9 out of 10 studs I've seen or heard of have developed leaks of sort. ARP head bolts would work. And yes, head bolts can be re-used. They aren't the TTY design.

Well I found out my local Trick Flow dealer has a hook up at ARP. I'm gonna go ahead and buy new bolts. Thinking back it's a half-*** way out if I don't. Thanks for all the replies.

Now ya warn me..where was that advice 5 years ago??? lol..JK

Mine leaked when I first built my current motor.I realized it when I pulled the VC's to retorque them after the initial cam break in..as AFR recommended.Called my machine shop and was told to add a lil Bars Stop Leak..cured it instantly.I have even done a flush on the cooling system every year since then..and run Dex Cool and still they have not leaked. That's without adding any since the first time.

and todd200..good choice on waiting.Cheapin out now is only going to haunt you later.
