Speedo cable attachment Question

Hey I am in the process on installing my new motor and I began to hook up my tranny and I found that my speedo part that is on the Tranny is striped (the male end)

Can I buy a new one or what can I do.

If this is the plastic gear that's damaged, then yes, you can buy a new one. They're about $10 at the GM dealer. You'll need to know your gear ratio and tire size, or your rear end option codes, to order the right one. If you're lucky they'll be able to recognize it by # of teeth and color, but don't count on it.

You should find out why it stripped and fix it; usually a cable that is dry of lube and binding, or a bad cruise regulator is the cause.

AFAIK you can get that at the dealer too... in fact, the replacement one for the T5 is steel, compared to the OE one which is chinesium (translation: cheapest stuff that won't dissolve in gear lube) which is probably why it stripped in the first place. Don't know about the auto version though.
