running rich...

how much does running rich hurt proformance i'm jw here. scince my carb broke and it's runnign rich.

It would be nearly impossible to quantify without significant analysis and measurement, but you are probably not making peak power. The theoretical ideal air/fuel ratio for best overall efficiency and performance is 14.7:1, and that number will vary depending on operating conditions. At part throttle light loads, the ratio should probably be higher to provide peak fuel economy. For WOT power production, the number likely needs to be closer to 11.5:1. If your carburetor was set up and adjusted properly, the main metering, fuel level, power valve, and secondary metering should have been sized to reduce the AFR to near the 11.5:1 range under heavy loads. Additional fuel admitted from a damaged carburetor may not only be a waste of fuel, but cost you some power at an indefinite level.

Basically, if the carb was correct before, you need to repair it to restore its function.
