oil press.
Hey everyone. Got back from the car show yesterday... great time. Ill post pics once i get em developed. Got a new front liscence plate. Its the arrowhead with a checker flag on each side. Well let me get to the topic...
I started my car today and when it started it was at like 60psi. It finnally went down to a little over 30 when i was cruisin (without foot on gas) When i would hit the gas it would slowly rise. Would this be a bad oil pump?

i doubt its an oil pump usually when they go out is you start it one day and the oil pressure never goes up or it just falls off down to about 5 psi ....sounds like you have a faulty sending unit or gauge
try using a different mechanical gauge if yours is mechanical or replacing the sending unit if yours is the factory one

MY LB9 ran just like that...first start up it would be 60 psi or so...idle at 30 and 45 at cruise...
oil pump was newer and the sending unit was brand new

ok thanx for the info... ill try the sending unit... i never had trouble with it before... but it does now have 140k miles...
and the tranny is now only starting to burn some fluid... not much but more than id like. I'm gettin a new 700R4 with stall and shift kit that will handle like 500ftlbs toruqe for $550. My gf's dad knows a guy who used to build them for his race team.

Mine does that all the time. It happens because the oil is thicker when cold and would probably have a higher pressure. Then once it is warm it would go down a little. Double check to make sure you have enough oil. It could be that you have enough in the pan when started but when it gets to pumping you are running low so pressure drops.

Oil pressure will go down as the engine warms up... thats perfectly normal. Thats why you have 60psi when you first start it and 30-45 after its been run and warmed up.
I don't see anything wrong with those numbers, but hook up a mechanical guage to make sure thats what you actually have for pressure.

yea, from what i have always seen, usually the gauges dont just JUMP up when you hit the gas when warm, they all just slowly rise...
