Engine codes
I got these codes from another thread; does anybody know where to start looking for the actual problem? The car hasn't beeen running well lately and dropped off almodt 10 mph last time at the track.
TROUBLE CODES
12. No reference pulses to Electronic Control Module (ECM).
36. Burn off at mass air flow sensor OR
Problem in transmission shift OR
Fault in direct ignition system OR
Missing pulses in electronic spark timing signal

Brad,
You have a TPI? The '36' is for a failure of the MAF burn off function. That can be caused by a failing MAF relay, failing MAF burnoff relay, faulty relay connections, poor connections at the MAF itself, or an intermittent problem with the auxilliary oil pressure switch.
The easiest place to start is with the relays. You can remove and carefully open them to inspect the contacts. You can measure the coil resistance to make sure they are in the range or 35-50 ohms. You can exchange teh MAF power and MAF burnoff control relays to see if the problem changes.
Chances are, you'll find the problem right there. If not, investigate the rest of the listed possibilities.
