alright guys i asked this question i think about a month ago and all i got was mixed responses from people i dont think knew exactly what they were talking about. lately i have seen people reccomending cams in the .510 lift range. well i have a summit cam with .442/.465 lift and i have a set of nice aluminum 1.6 ratio roller rockers. now i have been told that this will make for about ~.500 lift. i have a 85 lg4 with the 9.5 CR now will this be able to work on my stock heads without being a problem as to the amount of lift?

1.6 rockers would put your lift at .470 for intake and .494 for exhaust. Stock heads can't really handle more than .480" lift without needing the valve guides machined down a bit. You could *probably* file them down yourself if you wanted to, but the correct way is to have a machine shop cut them down.
Get some new valvesprings while you're at it.

i already got some new edlebrock vavle springs, the ones with the highest seat pressure is what i bought, and also does anyone have an idea as to how much it would cost to get the vavle guides machined down? and is it safe at all filing the retainers?
