97 7.4L, Will it accept a carbed intake?
My current 97 vortec 7.4L swap has ran into some interesting wiring issues so I'm probably going to shelve the MPI part for the time being.
From looking at the heads with the manifold off it appears to have the same bolt pattern as any other BBC. I had a few extra BBC intake manifolds but scrap prices were just too good to pass up.
Does anyone know if a carbed intake will fit? I cant seem to find any info on this anywhere and the only difference I can think of would be the EGR passage is not present in the vortec heads.

I believe on these newer motors (i.e. LT1, LS1, etc.) That they have released Carb intake manifolds recently. Well, I know the LS1 and newer Big Block truck motors had one released. check Edelbrock, Summit, Jegs, etc. I truly doubt an older style BBC-style manifold will work, bolt pattern designs and port designs. I could be wrong, but thats just my insight.

Well I was able to round up a spare tall deck intake and guess what?
It fits!:lala:
The only apperent difference from the older gen BBCs tall deck besides the normal vortec goodies, the heads have non adjustable rocker arms
which require a head gasket with a set compressed height and the heads if they needed surfaced can not exceed ten thousandths or thier trash.
