mods to do when. .?

I pulled my plenum off today to replace my fuel injectors, would this be a convenient time to do any mods? I know this has been asked, just leave me a link if you can.

The inside of the intake had 13 years worth of crap built up inside of it.. was this hurting anything? What can I do to prevent this in the future?

What was with that wierd shaped bolt on the drivers side, second from the rear through the runners/plenum? I cut it in half with a hacksaw because my deep socket didn't fit right.

Port the Plenum, put in an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, new runners. Don't know about the bolt. The crap is from the PCV, I spray mine with TB cleaner every time I change the oil to clean the crap out.

That wierd bolt is built the way it is to provide a place to mount a plastic bracket to hold the throttle and cruise control cables. Without the bolt and it's respective plastic bracket (actually a spark plug wire seperator/retainer) the cables will kind of flop around on the runners, look kind of messy, and possibly wear through the insulation/housing. I would go to the dealer and have them get an exploded view of the runner on the driver side up and have them order you a new bolt and the retainer for the cables. I always use a 10mm wrench on that bolt to remove and tighten it.

My $.02

Hope that helps
