Ok, I'm confused...(Vortec combustion chamber size???)
Ok, I'm confused...(Vortec combustion chamber size???)
I just read rday's reply to my question about the 58 cc Vortec heads he put on his 305. I thought the Vortecs only came in a 64 cc chamber? What gives and where can I get them? Scoggin Dickey and Jim Pace don't seem to have them-only the 64 cc heads...

The L31 Vortecs (the good ones) off the 350's have 64cc chambers. The L30 Vortecs (the not so good ones) off the 305's have 58cc chambers.

I'm pretty sure you can, but I was just wondering if there were a Vortec that could just be bolted on...The local GM parts center has the heads for $600 a pair (Scoggin Dickey and Pace are less-but shipping from Texas or Ohio ain't cheap!) So then I just have to factor in the cost of milling...anybody have a ballpark figure on what that usually costs? Will I then be limited as far as cam lift choices?
Thanks,
Matt
