Radiator Fan Switch Q.

I know that the whole cooling problem has been beaten to death so I will try not to ask a general question. Mine is I am having the same problem as everyone else and I know that the fan switch doesnt kick on till about 228* or so. I have put in a cooler t-stat and I am now thinking about putting in a new fan switch. My question is paired with a cooler t-stat would that help kill the cooling problem? I am not worried about heat at all since I will not drive the car in winter at all. So paired with a 160* stat and a fan switch that will kick on at 176* and off at 166* would that help with the cooling problem? Thanks for all the help.

You already know the fan cools everything down when it finally comes on. Putting a cooler thermostat in it without changing the fan switch doesn't do much for you unless you are cruising the highway on a cool day. I'd change the temp switch to get the fan to come on at the lower temps matching your new thermostat. By the way, I just bought one from Hypertech and put it in. I just wish it worked. I'm going to try a different brand next time.

So the hypertech didnt work huh. So if I got the Jet fan switch that turned on at 200* and off at 185* what type of t-stat should I get for it. Should I get a 170* or 180* stat? I really need to fix it because the high temp is really starting to get on my last nerve

I put in a 160 stat and the 176 fan switch at the same time a couple of years ago, they work great together. I live in FL where it gets pretty darn hot and I usually run about about 160 to 170. And as far as the heat goes in the winter, it heats just fine.

I run the 200 degree fan switch and a 180 degree thermostat. They work very well together, never a problem. Almost always runs between 180 and 200. Sometimes on a really hot day in traffic and the A/C on it gets to 220, but that's to be expected.

Z's r Best: What's wrong with the hypertech? I have a dead fan switch (stock), and I'm looking at both the JET and hypertech. Was the switch warrantied?
