Car: '82 trans am (w/ t-top)
Engine: 5.0L 305 H
Transmission: automatic
back firing

I know someone who removed the plug wires and distributor. When he reinstalled them the car does nothing but back fire. What could be the problem?

Probably messed up the firing order.

aye, messed up the firing order, or put the cap or rotor on backwards... i dont know if the car would even start with that kinda of mis-timing though.
