Are these the modern LT1 heads, or the old-style LT1 heads?

I ask, because a Gen 1 small block won't work with modern LT1 heads unless they have been modifed quite a bit.

look up a guy named tpiroc (i think that's the name, I apologize if it isn't). He has a thread about how to modify a 2nd gen SBC LT1 head to work with the Gen. I sbc block.

I'm in the process of doing this but instead of going on my 305, I'm just going to build the 350 with these heads. Once I get the heads all done and rebuilt though, I'll make some sort of a write-up. Its not a lot of money, but it is a lot of work I suppose... Need to use LT1 intake for best results and easiest install..

On the bottom of each head there are 2 coolant passage holes that need to be plugged and welded up. From my understanding there is no coolant crossover passage from the heads through the intake on the LT1, but there is a hole drilled out on the face of the head, where the accessory bolt holes are. You use these holes to run coolant lines to a remote thermostat housing.

As already suggested, do a search for a post by tpi_roc on LT1 heads. There are pictures of what is needed, as well as other good info.

I've got a set of LT1 heads at home, and I'm waiting on an intake/injectors/fuel rail so I can swap them on my car over the winter.

There was a missunderstanding the engine he had was the old style from a -74 corvette,so I am still looking to find that 355 or 383 to do the swap from my 305 this winter.
Thanks anyway.

You don't want a 74 Corvette engine; at least, not a USA one. Maybe export ones were better. But here, those were the absolute worst years for those..... 73 to 82. They were the same smogger pig that you would have got in a 2-barrel Impala: same low-flow low-compression smogger heads, same low compression pistons, same lame cam profile (the "929" cam). Wrapping it in fiberglass instead of family sedan sheet metal didn't improve the engine one HP or ft-lb.

Keep looking. That's not a good whole-motor core to buy as the foundation for a build-up; especially not if you have to pay some inflated "Vette" price for it.

OK!
But I dont think that many parts were stock on that engine,it have been modificate to deliver 350hp but anyway it is nothing for me.
By the way, does any of you have comments of what engine I will invest my money on: a350 crate or 383 stroker or a 350 TPI oveall I am looking for a nice low end torqe and a top end power at 300-330hp at the flyweel.
Thanks!!For any replay.
