Help can anyone tell me what this sensor is for and where it goes?

Last of the wires to hook up.

Axle/Gears: 8.8 rear, 4.56 gears, 4:1 transfer
That's not the egr, it screws into the egr valve though.

That is the EGR Temperature Diagnostic Switch and as John Millican has said. It screws into the base of the EGR Valve.
