earliest 350 with tbi?
Topic is a little off due to it having to be so short.
I'm wondering how possible it is to have a 350 with tbi. I have a 350 on blocks, but it's a late 80's 350 and I believe it was intended for a carb, but i really dont want anything to do with non-efi. Is this engine a candidate to just have a tbi slapped on top of it (my car is currently tbi on a 305) or would i have to buy a newer 350 block? Obviously i know nothing about the details of what allows a motor to be EFI or not ....and if it matters as long as you have the correct intake manifold.

I think the earliest TBI would be the '82 or '83 MY. This would be the Crossfire setup. As for the earliest 2-bbl TBI as found on millions of vehicles with the 350 it is probably the '87 MY.
In order to use the stock TBI intake and put it on an earlier engine, the 4 center mounting holes of the manifold need to be slotted.
The block has nothing to do with whether it can get a TBI or not. For a stock TBI manifold the heads will decide whether to use a pre-87 manifold, a post '87 manifold, or a manifold with the 4 center holes slotted.
Can also use a 4-bbl carb manifold and an adaptor plate.
