Holy Crap, what's going on!

ok...sunday i was at my friend's house when i noticed a some colant dripping off the lines comming from my radiator to my tranny. it was dripping, not flowing, so i thought maybe i blew a head gasket. i took my car home to put it on a jack and take a look, but when i got it home, it wasn't leaking anymore. since i put my heads back on a week ago and my new tb (58mm bbk), the car stumbles when i turn her on but acts normal after about 45 seconds. when i noticed the coolant leaking, i decided to do a flush (because i didn't drain the block when i took off the heads and i know oil got into the coolant). the next morning i drove my car to the bus to go to work (it's cheaper to take the bus than to drive there), and when i took her home, she over heated because the radiator was pretty damn close to empty. i didnt see anything in it, but it did splash up some coolant at me when i took off the cap. anyways, i filled it back up again and took the car for a ride... the car lasted me 2 hours before it shut off on me when i did a crazy *** u-turn. i didnt even notice it overheating either. i popped the hood and the coolant was down again. wtf is this crap. i don't know what's going on... do you think maybe my head gasket blew and im leaking coolant into my cylinder? could there be another reason for this? i was pretty sure my thermostat opened up when i was doing the flush because i left it on for a good 20 minutes while i flushed it. oh, and also... i don't know if my fuel pump is going or not because it's only a year old or so, but whenever i turn off my car, it makes a humming noise for a few seconds and then it turns off. should i have to worry about that too? =\ i really don't want to have to drop the rear again and go through that bull. thanks for all the help guys

With the engine running, look at the tail pipe. Do you see lots of white smoke (steam). If so, it's your head gasket.

The fuel pump is supposed to hum for a few seconds before shutting off. Nothing to worry about.

Maybe you should check your oil if you haven't done so already. Make sure coolant hasn't started mixing with the oil.

could be an air pocket in the cooling system,seen it lots of times!before you rip into it try to find a garage that can pressure bleed your cooling system.or start it cold several times and let it warm up with the radiator cap off.
of course check the oil & antifreeze for cross contamination as mentioned above!
is the fan running?did you crack the temp. sending unit or forget to plug the fan wire back into it?
let us know!

sometimes it smokes when i start her up... dont know if it's because im running rich though. i checked the plugs and they all look normal... doesn't look like ive been burning coolant.

the car has been shutting off on me more often now... usually when i take a turn with my foot on the gas, or like last night, when im comming to a stop. only turns on if i rev the crap out of it while i try to crank it. then it seemed to be running hotter than normal after that (normal for me is 150-160* at night... it was running at 210*)... seemed odd to me

i tightened the drain plug last night as well as it didn't seemed to be tightened all the way. but she still drips a drop of coolant off the radiator every 45 seconds or so. i could have sworn i sealed her off but i guess ill try to tighten it a little more when i get home.

not to mention, im running the hsr, and last night i noticed coolant seeping out, but not spilling out, off the top of the thermostat gasket. has anyone ran into this problem with the hsr? what do you suggest? new gasket and seal both ends with silicone? now i need to figure out why my car stalls on me for no reason sometimes. doesnt give me any error codes, and there's plenty of coolant in it... does any one know how i can go about trying to see if my fp is dying? thanks for all the help guys... glad you guys responded

i think it might be an air pocket... i started her up with the cap off and coolant was at the top, and when i came back to look at it when i started her up, the coolant had dropped off enough for me to fill it up with almost half a bottle of coolant. ive checked the oil... it looks fine to me. doesn't have any bubbles, looks brown, and doesnt smell like coolant. both fans run... one runs constantly, the other turns on when the car reaches 180*. the only sensor that broke on my car that i havnt fixed yet is the sensor on the pass. head that i believe is the coolant fan sensor?

I had the same problem with my HSR leaking fluid at the thermostat housing. I had an aluminum one and changed out to a cast iron one. Solved the problem. I was using a Mr. Gasket housing. Apparently they don't like heat. Probably due to the fact that there is no splash guard underneath the intake so the hot oil heats it up more than normal and transfers it to the T housing.

niicceeee... that freakin' sucks. i think im just going to go out and buy a new gasket, seal both ends with silicone and tighten that sucker down hard.... unless it's proven that what i said wont work and the only way to fix it is to buy another t-housing lol

milkshake = there's coolant in the oil. It shouldn't be brown. should be black, or pretty clear if it's been changed recently.

but brown = green + black mix.... green being coolant, black being oil.

well... it's brown/black... i changed the oil about 300 miles ago. i went down to the tail pipe and stuck my face in the exhaust fumes and didnt smell anything sweet. i think i just may be running rich or maybe my valve seals are toast.
