bad hesitation and rough starting...
alright guys you gotta help me with this one...its been screwin with me for weeks...ok i got a 85 trans am tpi with auto tranny...heres the deal...its got new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel pump, air filter, throttle body has been cleaned, the timing is fine, the wires arent crossed or arching...when i go to start it cold it takes a while to catch and starts real rough...it will idle at about 2000 and gradually come down until it stalls...to keep it from stalling i have to keep hitting the throttle...this is the thing though...when it reaches operating temperature it idles fine and will start right up...also on the road its terrible when i put the slightest load on it, it will hesitate like crazy and gurggle and gargle...its driving me nuts (no pun intended) PLEASE HELP ME!!
Sounds like you have a vacuum leak from somewhere... I would definately check the IAC (if you've got one, I can't remember what year you said you had.
) Otherwise, maybe sticking EGR valve, etc, etc... The problem is lots of air is getting in, leaning out the mix, and causing the high idle. Just a thought,
