My car key ignition is stuck in the on position. It wouldn't start for the pass 3 days i was told maybe a key computer chip but now it is stuck . Can i buy a new key ignition or am i screwed. Please help cause i need this car to work for me....

 

If the key is in the "on" position for 3 consecutive days (~72 hours), the battery will die....

But, let me get this straight: the key is stuck in the "on" position. Will it start, like can you move it forward that 1 switched position to engage the starter?

 

this happend to me the other day.. what i did was turned the key like i was going to start it then turned it off quick... key came right out

 

Oaky sorry about the confusion. The key will go to the position that should engage the starter but it will just hum. Ihave had trouble with this before and usaually i just have to wait 5 minutes then try it again and it will start up no problem. Well this time it would not start and has been sitting up at my high school for 3 days not in the on position but just not starting. Now tonight we towed it home and i was trying to start it and now it is stuck were the radio will play and the windows will go up and down but when i push it forward to try and start the car it just humms and now it wont go all the back to the off position. I unhooked my battery.so it would not drain it. I am wanting to know if it is possible to buy a new key setup .
