Hey, what's up y'all? I was just wondering what the average price for an engine rebuild kit is for my 305? Also, I was wondering what came with the kit. Thanks.

Don't waste your time with the 305 unless you do not care about performance. A 350 build will cost you about 50 bucks more.

price depends on what parts and how extensive the kit is. in reality there is no such thing as a kit as far as they go and pull it off the shelf. what happens is you tell them what you need and specs such as over bore or undersize and they fill a box for you with the required parts. buying a "kit" in no way means you get all the parts you need.

**** it. Switch engines w/ Edward when he's not looking... he'll NEVER know. That'd be funny as hell.

305 rebuild kit 175 dollars.
Fluids and Extras 100 dollars

Wasting your money on a 305, PRICELESS.

i cant get over how many of you ppl are so anti 305. ive seen many 305's go fast. sure its easier to do with a 350(the way im goin) but i know many ppl building 305's that would most likely SPANK alot of 350's out there. if someone wants to build a "boat anchor" let them do it and give them feedback that actually helps with the question.

it is actual feed back that helps ...

if he or anyone for that matter is building a 305 for performance reasons then they either:

A... have more money than they now what to do with .

B... dont know what they are doing

C... want to keep the car numbers matching

D... have never built an engine before and dont realize the potential of building a 350 over a 305.

here is a url to a place that sells master rebuild kits ...this doesnt cover the machine work involved or assembly or fluids or filters or anything besides engine internals

So would it be cheaper to just put in like a crate 350? 'Cause my little 305 ain't fast, but it ain't slow either. I'm really looking to save a little money if I can, so whatever is cheaper. Thanks

Ya know what gets me?

THERE'S NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT!!!!!!
...and he wants to build a 305

Man if you're going to go through the trouble of ripping the motor out and rebuilding it, just drop in a 350. As for my car, I'm doing as much stuff to my 305 as possible as long as the parts will transfer to a 350. The only reason I'd possibly consider rebuilding my 305 is if I do end up deciding to twin turbo it because the turbos I would use probably won't support a 350, but should support a 305 until I'd upgrade the setup.

Aside from that, 350 it is. My plan right now is to go as far as I can with the 305 (speed-wise / mileage-wise) until its either no fun any more or not running, and then I'll build a 350 to put in. As for now, I'll be content with my little rev-monster
