When Should I Shift???

I have a manual valve body, and considering my motor's torque peaks at 3500 rpm and the hp peaks at 5000 rpm, at what rpm's should I be shifting.

5000 or when you feel the engine stop pulling and making power.

I'd say shift just slightly before the motor tops out so that you don't lose time with it sitting on the flat spot at maximum rpm.

i'd say about 5200 to 5500 depending on the engine. some will peak and fall off right away, but some will still hold decent hp away's after the peak.

Ive heard 4250-4500 is really good if you're trying to accellerate really fast in an F-body

You can find out what rpm to shift at by looking at the tach after it shifts. It's recommended that your rpm point should be 500 rpm lower than peak torque after all shifts. Same with a TC. Stall should be 500 rpm below peak torque. The shifting is hard to do with a 700-r4 just cause of the big ratio diff between 1st and 2nd. 3.06 down to 1.63. That is what I've read on Summit's website.
