miss firing

The car misses when driving at steady state or under slight
loads, seems to be backfiring thru the exhaust. put the ignition
in by-pass, and the thing runs great, got all new igniton parts
but nothing seem to help. Its got the steady 9-10 volts from the knock sensor control mod to the ecm, grounds are all good, it also
has new injectors, any help with this HEI system?

the base timing is set to 6 dbtc, just like the book says. runs
great with the tan/blk wire off, just as if you where setting the timing.
