Is it worth it?
OK i just bought a 1988 Camaro with the 2.8lt. V6 and am wondering if it is worth keeping to restore? the underbody has quite a bit of rust in two spots on the floor pan have rusted through *a typical 88 car from WI* the chassi is farely rusted etc. but the body itself isn't bad besides on the bottom underneith the trim. The only thing is that im not going to be able to change the engine to a V8 mainly cuz of insurance. And am wondering what are the mods i could do to get some punch out of my V6. Another thing is that the Oil Presure is almost to the top of the gauge is this alright it doesn't seem like it. help with that would be great

if this is what all the f-bodies in your area are like then feel free to restore it. replacing floor pans can be easy if you have the tools and knowledge.
POR15 will be your friend once you get that rust out POR15 the crap out of the underbody.
I'd also suggest pulling up your carpet to see just how horrible your rust actually is. If the body is absolutely filled with rust then you're best to just sell it off again.
As for no V8... that's okay, you can get a V6 from a 4th gen camaro, and those V6's (with tranny) have more punch to them than the 305 V8's in the greater majority of F-Bodies... your insurance would stay the same, and you would have a more recent motor to upgrade.
You should send Redraif a PM asking her where you can find parts for modding a V6, she has done a ton of mod-work to her's, I believe she even switched one of her many f-bodies from a 3rd gen V6, to 4th gen (I believe the best 4th gen V6 is a 3.8l).
I hope this helps somewhat.

sorry, I didnt read that part of it before you edited it
Does the gauge read maximum pressure when the car isnt on and the key isnt in the ignition? Or just when you start the car and drive it?

The guage reads that high once i turn on the ignition and jumps around a lil then settles back into that possition. Im not sure if the gauge is broken or not but seems to be alright which makes me believe that the sencer is broken

verify oil pressure with a mechanical oil gauge. If it isnt the same as the electrical gauge, then buy a new sensor. I too doubt the gauge is off. The sensor is notorious for going bad.
