door lock messed up, is it expensive

i know someone with a 89 trans am. someone broke in the car. during the process they messed up the locks. now it doesn't lock. and you can't open the door from the inside but only from the outside. is this inexpensive or expensive. or could i solve the problem myself.

Cheap fix as long as everything is still in one piece i.e. the lock itself.

How did they break in? Slim Jim? If so they more then likely broke the clips holdin all of the push/pull rods to the handle and lock apart.

Take the door panel off and take a look. Its more than likely that.

My passenger door does not open from the outside at all. My drivers side door opens with any key that fits. What should I do and how much is it going to cost me? I have power door locks (they work fine) and Im wondering how much keyless entry will run me.

With the door not opening from the outside, do the same thing and take the door panel off and check the rods.

The door lock is a pretty simple fix. Get a new tumbler (lock) from GM parts and have them key it to match all the other locks. The only thing holding your door lock in is a pressure clip on the inside. Slide it off and remove the rod. Thats it. Hard part is getting your hand in there.
