fuels pump

hey guys quick question about my fuel pump, i bought a new 80 GPH fuel pump and installed it a while ago. and i plugged of the fuel return line because it wasnt on the new pump. now is this bad at all and is it hurting my gas milage at all. thanks

A mechanical pump? What PSI does the pump put out? If there is no return line on a mechanical pump, well it doesnt need one then.

well i understand if it aint on the pump then the pump dont need it lol what im saying is there a certain thing in the tank or by any chance it needs the return line... also to your other question i have no idea as i have it regulated to 5.5 psi

If it's not FI and doesn't have some exotic/wierd/overkill pump you don't need the return line. Was your car originally a TBI car by chance?

Thats what I was implying. THere is nothing about the car that requires it, so if the pump doesnt have it, cap it off.

Transmission: 700 w/ manual valvebody & 2400 TCI
Axle/Gears: 9-bolt B&W w/ 3.70s
If your not using an EFI pump then you shouldn't need the return line. With my setup, for example, I chose to use the stock EFI pump with a return-regulator which still does need the return line...or else i'd have like 80psi up my carbs ***!
