FLYWHEEL RESURFACING

How do you know when it is time to get the flywheel resurfaced? Also how do you adjust the clutch, my clutch only grabs very near the top of the pedal travel. It doesn't slip, I checked with a 3rd gear low speed start by flooring it. HELP PLEASE.

Hi,

The only way to be sure is to visually inspect it for heat cracks, ridges, and hot spots. Depending on it's condition, you can either clean it up yourself or have it resurfaced at a shop. The high pedal probably indicates your pressure plate is weak, not sure if there are any adjustments to be made to the pedal/linkage that would help.

Good Luck

Ken

On hydrolic clutches you can't really adjust the linkage. It is your pressure plate that is weak and causing that condition. I have the same problem. My clutch catches when my foot is almost on the top.

As for indication of the flywheel, if your car vibrates when you start from first then you should have it resurficed, and also when you put on a new clutch.

Good luck.

you cannot adjust the a hydralic clutch. My clutch catches at the top also, which is normal. If you clutch is catching at the very bottom then you have problems.
