L31 vortec heads pushrod holes

I have already posted this question in another form on this board but thought it may get more attention stated this way! I put a 268 extreme Comp Cam in my 350 Chev.I have had nothing but trouble. After a bunch of other problems I finaly got it togather today and it ran for about 5 minutes and then there was a big bang and it bent all but 6 pushrods. I thought it may be that I didn't have the valves adjusted down enought so I had another set of pushrods in it and tryed it again. It only took about 30 seconds and bang again, bent 2 pushrods that time. The holes in the heads where the pushrods go through are real small and it apears as if the pushrods are binding in the holes. From being on this site before it sounded as if there were some other people running this cam with the L31 heads. Is there anybody out there that has had this trouble with this set up??? If so please let me know and what you did or I can do. Thanks NORT

Hmm, first problem w/ the 268 (with 1.5 rockers) that I've heard of. The limiting factor is supposed to be the springs and/or the spring retainer/valve boss clearance. Pushrod hole problems are new to me if that's the case...

hmm 2 things come to mind here (maybe this was stated in the email sent to you) but the rocker arms have to be self aligning (i believe you can tell this by looking where the arm rides on the pushrod...there should be a groove there for the pushrod to ride in) and also i think there are certain rocker arms you need to use w/ the vortecs. second, you need to have the right springs....comp cams p# 981-16 for that cam
