R134, how many pounds?

I have a '88 IROC, 350, 700R-4 etc. I bought the car and the previous owner had it professionally converted over to R134, new compressor, hoses, evaporator, etc. Its starting not to blow as cold and I was wondering if anyone knew how many pounds the system is supposed to have in it? I have not bought a gauge yet but I am just curious. The things has been blowing ice cold ever since I got the car in Sept of 2000. If anyone knows about this stuff and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Poor college student(donations welcome ;0) with an all stock 1988 5.7L IROC-Z Hardtop, Auto. trans, white ext. w/gold accents (soon to be silver), black custom cloth interior, 4-wheel discs and G92 pkg. Car is dead stock. Has only standard Z28 power options and all the IROC performance stuff you could get. No pwr. seats, mirrors, or rear defrost.

Best run: 1/4 14.90 @ 92.7 MPH

I think it's 80 percent of the R12 capacity. Look under the hood, it should have a tag somewhere, or call a dealer and ask the R12 capacity.

The R-12 capacity is 48oz. 80-85% of that would be about 40oz which is how much R-134A you should have. Don't forget to count the amount of oil as part of the 40oz capacity. For example, I have 31.5oz of R-134A, and 8.5oz of oil. Not quite as cold as the old R-12, but I can live with it for the cost difference.
