Ticking lifter and all sorts of problems

Ok this has become the project from hell. I want it to be over more then anything else. I installed some edelbrock headers, MSD ignition, and ported and matched my heads. I got the timing set right and I am sure I am getting plenty of spark but the motor runs weird(weak and hesitates bad) and is stalling a lot. I assumed it was because I did not set the valves right but that is no longer looking like the case. The only difference I can tell you is that it now makes a very load ticking noise from what I think is 3 of the lifters. I can feel the noise vibrate the pushrods when I put my hands on it. What would be causing the noise that was never there before and could that be the reason for my poor performance. Thanks in advance.

If you can feel it through the push rods, means you have the valve cover off...so go ahead and set the valves the old fashioned way...back'em off till they start clicking, tighten them up 1/2-3/4 of a turn...just do them all the same.

But first double check the spark plug wire routing, and make sure no wires/boots have burned on the headers. Then set the timing at factory spec's to start, and work form there. You did disconnect the EST bypass when setting the timing?
