I bought it broke. How do I fix it?
I bought a 82 Camaro 2.8V6 2bbl carb, TH200. The guy I bought it from said he blew it up, I figured 100 bucks was a fair price to pay (he was getting ready to have it sent to the wreckers). Anyway I went over and looked at it and the oil was full, didn't look like there was any water in it. It did smell of gas though. The battey was dead so i figured what the hell Ill charge it up. Well I hooked the charged battery back up and Vroom. The damn thing fired right up. It was loud as hell from the passenger side exaust maifold being almost falling off and sounded like it was missing.
I told him i twas running and he told me that after about 10 blocks it will crap out. sure enough it does and it lacks power. could the head have been damaged from the loose exaust? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

100$ Man your lucky!
Well it might crap out in 10 blocks but the exhaust manifold will have nothing to do with it. It most likely blew a head and or head gasket but there would be some indication of water in the oil or exhaust either way. you might want to check the firing order on the plugs to make sure everthing is good there. For a 100$ car it might be worth your while to take it to a couple local mechanics and get thier opions on what might be wrong with it and then if you decide to fix the problem your self there are plenty of people here to help you.
Good luck!

Jackson,
Welcome!
Drive it five blocks from home, turn around and head back home. As soon as it dies, check for spark, fuel, and battery power (cranking). One of those will probably be missing, and should be a good indication of where to look next. You can stand to sink a few more bux in it before you throw in the towel and sell it for $200.00.
