Ok, I got the numbers. What a PITA

Here are the numbers from the back drivers side of the motor. 460776 and here's the ones from the pass side rear of motor. C297.
Hope this is it. Cause that's all the numbers there are. Had to pull the distributor. Oh what fun. Thanks. Newvermind. I found out what it is. Thanks for the help anyway.
Pad numbers. F0414 BorR A

Where are the numbers from the pad on the passenger side front that I told you about? I need those numbers to tell what it is. The casting number is good, but kind of useless without the pad numbers.

The 460776 number shows to be a 305 block from 1976-1979.

The C 29 7 number would then be March 29, 1977 as the casting date.

Those numbers correspond with the vin # of the car the engine came out of. There is a three letter code (1970 and later) that also (usually) tells what type of vehicle the engine originally came from but I don't have the letter codes from 1977.

Where did you get your info at for the cast numbers? Can you get the numbers from chevy or just somewhere on the net? Thanks.

Go to mortec.com

They have a lot of casting #s for reference, plus brief descriptions. I doubt that they have them all though.

It sounds like jms might have them all though.
