Power Steering Pump Installation

I can't seem to get the rebuilt power steering pump to line up on my 91 Iroc Z. Seems the seams on the resevoire hit the aluminum mounting bracked. Any help out there?

if it hits grind the bracket fro clearance. i'll bet you don't have something installed or lined up right, if you have the correct parts.

maybe it's a "special edition" iroc z, since they were no longer produced after 1990...

but what he said... might have to grind a little, but theoretically shouldn't have to - should be a direct replacement. but one never knows. i just had to grind down the are on my plenum over the fuel press reg when i replaced it with an afpr that is supposedly made for tpi, so... go figure.

It sure looked like a direct replacement, but once I turned the core in it was impossible to tell. I am going to visit a few service locations tomorrow and see if there are any small differences in some of the rebuilt pumps.

Thanks for your help.

OK, if any of you are still interested.... I found the answer! Seems the pumps are the same, but the orientation of the reservoir is a bit different. I just picked up one that is about 30 degrees additionaly clockwise. With the tight fit in the serpentine belt set-up that difference means the wrong oriented reservoir will NOT fit. I have yet to try installing this new one, but it looks to be the answer.

PS, I got the correct one at Auto Zone, but Kragen did take back the one I got from them AND refunded the full amount plus core charge. No questions, no fuss.... gotta respect that.
