Questions about stock 350 heads
Questions about stock 350 heads
What is the casting number for the stock 350 heads, isn't 882?
Does anyone have flow numbers on this?
Would a stock 350 head make a good performance upgrade for a 305, provided its milled down to 58cc of cource.

The 882 is one of a large number of stock 350 castings, specifically a common 350 and 400 head from the 70s.
In as-cast form, it's a terrible head. Hogged out as much as you can, it's still a mediocre one at best. For a 305, it would be a very bad choice; it has 76cc chambers, so the compression ratio on a 305 with flat-tops would be less than 8:1. I don't think you could mill enough off of one of those to bring the CR back up even to 9:1.
So no, it would not make a good performance upgrade for a 305, or for anything else for that matter. It's a downgrade any way you slice it for almost any motor.
