Possibly detonation?
Hey all,
Ok, here's my prob. I'll be at a stop and when I go to take off I get this brief "rocks in a can" rattling sound. I think it's detonation.I've checked my timing several times this week and it's right on 0 deg BTC, right where the timing sticker under the hood says, but I looked in my chilton manual and it says to put it at 6deg btc. Where should it be? Also, I just passed 150k miles, could the timing chain have anything to do with it? I know they stretch over time and I haven't changed it since I've had it. Of course, it runs fine after I get going, after about 10 feet, it's just that initial takoff when it rattles.

Timing chain is definatly a possibility. If you've got 150K and havn't changed it yet, I'd do it anyway.... From what I've heard from just about everyone here, base timing should be between 6 and 8 degrees advanced...
