Best Thermostat(?)

Hey guys,i am wondering if i am running the correct thermostat,i put in a 160 degree thermostat in my 86 305 tpi iroc, she was running hot but now stays cool,i changed the thermo when i put in the hypertech chip and that is what they recommended,it used to be above 220 i believe but now is around 160 or 170 on hot days,is this too cool or should i go to a 180 thermo?

160 just means that it will open up at 160, not that the engien temp will stay at 160. I have a 160 in my car but I have something far from stock. The best would be a 180 robershaw/stewarts. They are like $8 and they open up faster than stock. They also break in the open position which is a nice safety feature but I have yet to hear of a robershaw breaking!
