4th Gen V6 hp?
I have the oppurtunity to get a 95 camaro V6 for real cheap it is a nice car leather and cd player it gets 31 mpg and I have heard it is supposed to have 200 hp I have seen this one outrun a few relativly stock 350 TPI Irocs. Are the V6 4th Gens decent cars?

Is it the 3.1 or the 3.8? I don't think that the 3.8 was available until 96. If it's the 3.1 then it's 160hp. I used to sell them there cars, and I remember all the stuff about Camaros, Vettes, and Caprices. Mainly cause they got V8s. That and trucks. It was hard for me to sell 4 bangers. Don't like 'em too much.
Edit: OOPS! The 3.8 was first 180hp, but in 98 they upped it to 200hp. FYI

The 3.1L was in 90-92 f-bodies. The 3.4L was in 93-95 f-bodies, and it was rated at 160 HP. The 3.8L was in 95-present f-bodies, and its 200 HP. The 3.8L is a great engine, runs low 15's, and beats up on our slow V8's.

I'd love to have one of those 4th gen "rs" cars with the 3.8
I don't see them around that much, are they the 'rare' car of the future? I saw 3 in my life.

I see those ugly things practically every day. Not my cup o' tea.

I have a 96 Camaro 3.8 for my daily driver. The 3.8 was in the 1996 Model year and the 1995 Model Year was the 3.4. Yes the 3.4 is 160hp and the 3.8 is 200.
And their pretty respectable too.

95 used 3.4, 3.8, and 5.7 in non z28 camaro's. 3.4 was base engine. mid way through the 3.8 was offered, but only available with automatic and air conditioning. 5.7 was available as a plain sport coupe (non z28) package for police. 96, a/c became standard so it was no big deal. the 3.4 at 160hp was ok, but a dog comparing to the 3.8 at 200hp and much more torque.
Ya, those 3.8 4th gen are pretty fast for a v6......especially with a 5spd. I had all I could do with my 350 TPI to get by one. Time for some power mods I guess because the guy is blowing his mouth off all over town saying the only reason I got by is because he let me :mad
