Removing A/C and controlling fan manually?

Let me know if this sounds like a good or bad idea.

I'm thinking about guting my whole A/C system under the hood since it doesn't work any damn way. Then I could use the A/C switch in my car as a manual engine fan control. Currently the fan never seems to come on and my Jasper engine is hot as hell.
This would achive three things (1)it would be one less thing sucking hp from my belts, 2(2) I could leave my fan on all the time when Sharky is moving at less than 30mph to keep her kewl and help feed my open K+N filter, (3) and lastly my car would be a little lighter. Am I overlooking any adverse side affects?

The lever in the car doesn't control the fan, the high pressure switch in the A/C system does, IIRC.

But if you're bent on pulling the A/C out of the car, as opposed to converting it to 134 and keeping the GF happy when it's hot out, you can use a toggle switch to control the 2ndry fan relay...either wire to the relay up in the engine bay, or at the 2ndry fan switch sensor wire.

doh, well I guess that my A/C needs a little more thought. Thanks for the imput.
Yeah, my girl isn't to found of my car, but that's ok. Sharky has two environmental options: hot air, or more hot air.

The compressor... it has that two-pin connector going to it, right? I guess a relay could be patched into there? That's a slick idea, using the a/c controls to kick th car's fan on... very stealth-y. Hey, that could be used for a nitrous arming switch, too, eh?

Wow, your right, I should try to do that. Nitrous, lol, no I don't trust my Jasper engine that much. The damn thing broke a push rod in the first 2,000 miles (luckily it was still under warrenty). Nothing else has happen sense then and I'm on about 8,000 mile. Since then I've decided not to ever consider nitrous.
