Car wont fire up.... help

Its an 89 5.7 TPI
I am getting spark, and pressure to the rails. Just changed the fuel filter... wasnt the problem. The ECM threw a code 43 while I was driving it... then started one last time, won't start now. When fuel is sprayed into the plenum, the thing starts up, idles for asec, and dies. I really need to figure this out...please help.

Tris

PS It sure as hell isnt my fuel pump.... I have great pressure, and you hear it loud and clear.

I think that if you have gas and spark you
probably have the timing out.If it was my
car I would remove all the spark plugs and
turn the motor over by putting a socket on
the balancer.Place your thumb over the number
one spark plug hole. When you feel the motor
come up on compression stroke bring the timing mark on the balancer to T.D.C. or
zero degrees.Remove the distributer cap and
make sure the ignition rotor is pointing directly under the number one spark plug wire.If it is not you will have to move it.If it is put it back together
and double check the firing order.

Good Luck

If you have good pressure at the fuel rail (and the fact you spray fuel into the intake to get it to fire), I'd say the injectors are not opening.

Check the INJ1 and INJ2 fuses first. Check the TPS voltage too.

The code 43 could be indicitve of the ECM not seeing any ingition pulses, so maybe the module went south?
