cant set correct timing (plz read especially edelbrock intake owners)

well i put on my new intake manifold base made by edelbrock, well its all done now so i go to tune it and i realize its about +10 or +12 degrees advance, not sure cuz the tab only goes to +8. i want it at around +6 degrees. so when i turn the distributor to bring it back to range, the distributor hits the cylinder #7 runner cuz it is raised i guess over stock. so i cant fully bring my timing to adjustment. is their anything i can do remedy this problem? i am at a stump
