Squeak .. Is it my belt?
When I rev my engine in neutral or park, I will sometimes hear a squeak from my engine. Also now when I accelerate and the car shifts from 1st to 2nd I will sometimes hear the squeak again. Does this mean I am low on power steering fluid? Or is it what I think it is, my belt? Do I need a new belt? Do I need to apply a silencing adhesive to the belt? Thanx for the help.

Does your engine still have the v-belts? If so, then I would recommend checking the tension on all the belts. How old are the belts? One may just be stretching, telling you it is time for a replacement.
Not too sure about the squeaking when shifting, though. Maybe it is coincidental to the engine rpm at the time. If not, then maybe check out the trans mount and/or torque arm mount?

It should still be the V-belt setup. As such, as a measure, just give each belt a snugging up. See what that does. Of the sqeaking/squealing persists, get a length of heater hose and place one end in your ear and use it like a stethoscope. Probe around the accessories until you find one or an area that seems to producing the ruckus. Work from there if need be.

Yea, I am just gonna replace the power steering belt. I don't have v-belts. If the noise continues, I will try the technique that you mentioned about finding the noise with the tube. Thanx for the help. I figured I needed a new belt.

If you do find its your belts, try this (and be careful!!)
When the engine is running, with the belts on (so the pullies are turning) take a peice of rough grit sandpaper and touch inside the grooves of the pullies with the sandpaper, just enough to scuff it up a bit. Sometimes the pullies get 'polished' over the years and just can't grip the belt like they used to. This can fix that.
Be very careful if you try this though, because its very easy to catch a sleeve or something on a belt doing this. It does work great though.
