Knock sensor diagnosis

I dont know why but i have one of those "Gut Feelings" that my knock sensor is not behaving... i always seem to be a perfectionist when it comes to cars.(Nothing else though)..
How can I tell if my knock sensor is giving the proper readings???

Quick and dirty method would be to watch the timing mark with a strobe light and have someone tap the passenger side of the block with a hammer (tap, not slam). Any sharp impact would be sensed by a properly working sensor and the ignition advance would be immediately retarded as a result. If you tap the block and can observe the timing mark change suddenly, the sensor is working.
