If you're going to use the new Performer RPM hyd roller cam be sure to order the right one in your kit. One is for retro- fitting into a non roller block and the other part# is for using in a roller block with oem hyd roller lifters.
Further: the springs that come on the assembled performer RPM heads may not be right for the Performer RPM hyd roller cam. may need to change them.
If you'll be going with the flat tappet cam and kit the only issue will be pushrod length and timing gear compatability with the roller block.
If you'll be using an automatic transmission and a "stock" stall converter and modest rear gearing you be better off and a lot happier overall selecting a smaller cam than the Performer RPM cam. (less duration)
Going with a little smaller cam would only give up a little horsepower at the peak (high rpm) and gain a lot of usable low and midrange torque.
(where you do the majority of your driving)
Its important to match up the cam to your car.
What rear gearing and trans type and stall speed converer will you be using?
What is the diameter of your rear tires?
Is cruising in overdrive (4th on an auto) (5th on a 5 speed manual) important to you?

Please send all automotive technical questions regarding Edelcrap Products to us at: edelbrock@edelbrock.com
If you are going to spend that kind of money on their products, it would seem logical to ask the manufacturer directly for their opinion. They are the ones that make the product after all.

Your thread? Your money? Your car? Your time? Your investment? Thought so.
Last I checked the Edlecrap 'packages' were just that, packages. Those packages which I looked into had matching valvetrain for the matched cam and they would change the springs on request or if they thought it was needed. That's why they have a tech department. Otherwise they could not advertise it as such.
It is apparent he hasn't been working on cars for too long. I personally feel that he should take advantage of the service prior to blowing a wad on parts.
If you have a problem with my posts, there is a little link at the bottom right corner of each and every one of my posts. It reads 'Report this post'. I'm sure the mods would get a good chuckle out of it. If you have a problem with me PM me so I can ignore any stupidity. Bring it out in the public forum and it usually does not end too well.
