A large vacuum leak near the tbi would basically be like opening up the throttle, itll idle real high. Nearer to a runner seems to just knock out a cylinder. Ive left the brake booster line off by accident and the car would still run, just with a dead #8 cylinder.
The high map readings do indicate a problem with either the map sensor, or more likely, an issue that effects vacuum. The egr would be worthwhile checking out. If its somehow stuck open itll cause a really lousy idle. There are lots of other things that can cause the motor to pull low vacuum as well.
The high map readings are more likely indicative of a larger overall problem rather then a vacuum leak.
