Car: yy wife, crazy.
Engine: 350, Vortecs, 650DP
Transmission: TH-350
Axle/Gears: 8.5", 3.42
1994 T/A's and Camaros were rated 275bhp. That's at the flywheel w/every available option on the engine. Like power steering, alt, a/c compressor, etc.

Yeah I was guessing about 100 more than mine stock
Okay heres my idea...
My mom's friend's husband just went to jail as i mentioned before. I'm going to look at his 3rd gen T/A (motorless) possibly tonite and see whats up. For $100 this could be mine. I could buy it, sell it or part it out, then have an extra couple bucks. Then I find someone to buy my car and sell it to them and purchase an early 4th gen Trans Am. Sound like a plan?

If that's what you wanna do, go for it. I would recommend selling it whole if you want to get rid of it faster. Parting it out will (maybe) reap you more money, but it'll take longer. Plus you will still be left with parts that nobody wants. It'll all depend on how good of shape it's in.
If you wanna get a 4th gen., you won't be disappointed. I had a 94 Z28 and loved it. White, T-tops, 6spd., Bose CD, & gray cloth int. I added a K&N filter, Flowmaster muffler (they didn't make a catback then), and the skipshift bypass thing. I had money problems, so I had to sell it.
Overall, it'll cost more to modify it compared to your 3rd gen. But you won't have do as much to get the same results. So it should even out. They're great riding, handle well, and if you get a 6 spd, they get great mpg. I'm sure the auto's do to, but I never rode in one. This is all compared to a TBI engine, not the TPI.
I think each has it's benefits. A 3rd gen, IMO, can be made to look more aggressive. But a 4th gen is aggressive. I would never get rid of mine for a 4th gen. I've grown to like mine better than I ever did the 94. To each his own, and to him the very best. Do what you want.

I really want a 4th gen. I was aiming for one but only had $5000 to work with at the time (6 months ago) i got my car. A 4th gen was out of the question.
HOW MUCH WOULD YOU PAY FOR A:
1993 Trans Am, 70k rebuilt engine, great condition- stored winters, alarm, new exhaust, new brakes, tint, kenwood sound system. He was asking $8000, and thats way too much for a rebuilt engine I'd say. That rebuilt engine means one thing- the car was ragged on. After 70k miles it needed a rebuild? thats not cool. I don't know any other specs to it because I havent seen it. I know its cherry red though. I was thinking to offer $5000-6000 for it and if he says no, oh well.

Goto Kelly Blue Book @ www.kbb.com
That'll give you a general idea of what it's actually worth. You can also try Edmunds @ www.edmunds.com
That does happen sometimes though. I had 96 Monte Carlo that I had the engine replaced at just 28K miles. It was making a funny noise, and instead of trying to fix it, the dealer just replaced the motor. It was under warranty.
It was actually pretty dumb for the guy to tell you that. Your suspicions are good though. Ask him why it needed a rebuild. That and if it's an auto (you didn't say), and he was hard on it, it might need help soon to. If it's a stick, pay attention to the clutch firmness. Mine slipped something nasty from 2nd-3rd gear. I was not real hard on it, but I bought it used, so who knows who was.
Good luck,
AJ

I'll take a look at it soon. My last day of school is tomorrow, so I could probably stop by then. I don't know the transmission. And the aprox value of it is around $6000 (trade-in) to $9000 (retail value). but if it had to be rebuilt for a bad reason or unknown reason then i wouldnt pay more than $6000.
