Depends upon your threshold of pain.
Easier than an engine swap from V6 to V8, harder than changing spark plugs with headers. Somewhere close to changing the oil pump with the engine in the car.

Axle/Gears: 3.23 10bolt waiting to explode.
Honestly? I'd rather yank the engine now. Having done heads/cam/intake on my car the whole job would have been much easier out of the car.
Also with the engine out of the car there is much less chance of scratching the cam bearings. Bad idea.

Another plus for yanking the motor. You can really clean the hell out of the engine bay. Make it nice n' clean again.
