mech to elec. fuel pump question

ok. i had a mechanical fuel pump on my 305, i got an electric for the 350. still not sure on mounting location but my mechanical had 3 hoses, two rubber going into it and the metal going to the carb. my new electric just has the in and out, whats the deal with the extra hose and what do i do with it.

a fuel pressure regulator will sometimes have a bypass valve that will send fuel back to the tank (smallest line)
